This vase was the first of the collection I eventually named Dancing Vases. Early in my pottery explorations, I began to notice that many pottery creations seemed to subtly suggest the human form. In this case, I had created a vase with a very long 'neck', which I then carved open. But I went further, opening up the area below the 'shoulder' of the vase and creating a plunging neckline. I framed the entire opening with a a highly reactive glaze that separated and flowed into several colors at 2000 degrees in the kiln.
This one-of-a-kind vase is part of a private collection in the Lincoln Center area in NYC.
A selection of other Dancing Vases is available in different colors and sizes at my online shop
