This 9.5-inch pitcher is covered with a satiny white glaze, onto which leaves, flowers, and hummingbirds have been painted with a pigmented liquid clay. The handle echoes the rounded shape of the body and continues the flow of the painting.
The vessel has several uses. It can be a vase for a small bouquet of living flowers with the handle creating a decorative detail, or it can simply stand alone as a piece of sculpture, where the geometry of the shape and the design of the painting on the vessel create an interest from every angle. It can also be used as a functional pitcher for a beverage, because the glaze is food-safe.
Similar recreations of this vase can be custom ordered at my online shop.
